12 BDC Metrics Every Dealership Should Track in 2026

Most dealerships track three BDC metrics: calls made, calls received, appointments set. That's like managing a baseball team by tracking at-bats, not batting average.

Here are the 12 metrics that actually tell you whether your BDC is performing — and nine of them can't be tracked without call-level analytics.

Volume Metrics (The Basics)

1. Total inbound calls. How many sales calls your BDC receives per day, week, and month. This is your demand signal — everything else is measured against it.

2. Total outbound calls. How many calls your agents make. Important for follow-up campaigns, but meaningless without outcome tracking.

3. Answer rate. What percentage of inbound calls are answered by a human? Industry average is 70-75%. Top performers hit 90%+. Every unanswered call is potential revenue that walked away.

Quality Metrics (Where It Gets Real)

4. Average call score. AI-generated score across multiple dimensions: greeting, discovery, value proposition, appointment offer, and close. This is the metric that replaces "how do you think that call went?"

5. Script adherence rate. What percentage of calls follow your defined call structure? Not word-for-word — structural elements. Did they greet, discover, bridge, and close?

6. Discovery question rate. On what percentage of calls does the agent ask at least one meaningful discovery question? This single metric correlates more strongly with appointment-set rate than any other.

7. Appointment offer rate. On what percentage of calls does the agent actually ask for the appointment? You'd be surprised how many calls end without an ask.

Conversion Metrics (The Money)

8. Appointment-set rate. Appointments set divided by qualified inbound calls. Below 30% is a process problem. 30-40% is average. Above 45% means your team is executing.

9. Appointment show rate. What percentage of set appointments actually show? Below 50% indicates a confirmation process problem, not a customer problem.

10. Appointment-to-sold rate. Of the customers who show, what percentage buy? This connects BDC activity to actual revenue.

Efficiency Metrics (The Operations)

11. Lead response time. How many minutes between a lead arriving and the first call attempt? Under 5 minutes is the standard. Over 15 minutes is revenue loss.

12. Follow-up completion rate. When an agent commits to a callback, does it happen? Call Intelligence flags commitments made on calls and tracks whether follow-through occurs.

Why Nine of These Require Technology

Metrics 4-7 and 11-12 cannot be tracked manually at scale. A BDC handling 200+ calls per day can't have a manager scoring each one by hand. Call Intelligence automates the entire measurement layer — every call scored, every metric tracked, every trend visible on a dashboard.
